TAKE ACTION:  WRITE YOUR SENATOR OR REPRESENTATIVE

Writing a letter to your U.S. Senator or Representative is the first step to making a difference for global health. Letters from constituents like you encourage Members of Congress to support increased and more effective aid to meet global health challenges.

WRITE A BRIEF, PERSONALIZED EMAIL TO YOUR SENATOR OR REPRESENTATIVE

Here’s a suggested outline:

  1. Summarize your request in the subject line e.g. "Take the lead on increasing funding for global primary health care."

  2. Introduce yourself and thank them for some recent action if you can.

  3. Briefly describe the problem and why you care about it. If you have personal experience with the problem, share it. 

  4. State what you’re asking them to do and ask for a reply. You might add that you’re supporting Fund for Global Health’s request.

  5. Sign with your name and address.

  6. Address the message to “Senator (their last name) or Representative (last name) c/o staffers’ name” and email to the staffer whose name is at the bottom of the issue page.
